Sign Posts
The Priorat County Path Hiking Network uses sign posts made out of tree trunks with green metal indicators, which are to be found at important points of the trails. There are also painted markers to be found mainly on stones, trees or dry stone walls and which consist of a thick yellow painted line of around 3x12 cm. These markers are aimed at indicating the way when it is not obvious and also to identify the paths which make up the county network of paths.
When these paths cross or follow one of the established paths such as the GRs (Long Routes)or the PRs (Short routes), the markings for these routes have been re-painted. If there was a complex mix of markers, the county council has opted for the use of the yellow marker.

Clearing the Paths
Most of the ancient paths had fallen into disuse and vegetation had covered them. Some had also suffered landslides and were covered with rocks in some places. Fallen trees and branches had also obstructed the paths. Sometimes farm track had been built and had cut the paths in half, making it difficult to repair. The first thing to be done in these cases is clear the whole of the path to make it accessible from start to finish.
- Priorat County Paths Network Priorat County Council is developing tourism in the region within a three-year plan (known as "Pla de Foment") 2006-09. A great effort is being made to promote active tourism and hiking in the region. The council has recently cleared several ancient paths to create a clear network of historic paths for visitors to discover the Priorat on foot.
