La serra de Llaberia i la mola de Colldejou

More than mere mountains, the Llaberia and Colldejou mountain ranges are fortresses; castles constricted by their steep cliffs, walls of limestone rock which the evening light paints the colour of honey. They spread out beyond the Priorat boundaries into the Baix Camp and Ribera d’Ebre regions.

One figure in particular stands out in Catalan history during the eighteenth century. Born in Capçanes with close links to the nearby Llaberia mountains, his name was Pere Joan Barceló, better known as El Carrasclet. He was a man who was deeply committed to his country, a man who stood up to the powerful Philip V once the War of Succession had ended. The mountains still guard the memory of his noble activities and the courage of his men.

The holm oaks, that flourish on the slopes of the Mola de Colldejou were farmed intensively to produce charcoal whilst the pastures further up were treasured by local shepherds. The characteristic outline of this mountain makes up the unmistakable landscape of the Priorat and the Tarragona province.

Capçanes | Capçanes is to be found in the southern part of the county, in a valley surrounded by the Espasa, Montalt de la Picotxa and Llaberia mountain ranges.
Marçà | Al sud est de la comarca, separat del Baix Camp per la Serra de Llaberia i la Mola de Colldejou, al peu del turó de la Miloquera, hi trobem Marçà.

S’hi pot arribar per carretera des de Falset per la T-300; des de la Torre de Fontaubella per la TV-3001; des de Capçanes per la TV-3002 i des de Móra la Nova per la N-420 i la T-367. Marçà compta amb un baixador de la línia de ferrocarril Madrid-Barcelona, el qual comparteix amb Falset.
Torre de Fontaubella | Al sud est de la comarca, al límit del Priorat amb el Baix Camp i al naixement de la riera de Marçà, hi ha la Torre de Fontaubella. La separa del Baix Camp la Serra de Llaberia i la Serra de l’Argentera en la seva unió al Coll Roig, prop del pic de La Mola, de 914 m d’altitud.

S’hi pot arribar per carretera des de Falset per la T-3000 fins a Marçà i la TV-3001 fins a La Torre de Fontaubella; des de Pradell de la Teixeta per la TV-3223; des de Reus per la N-420 i la TV-3223, i des de Colldejou per la TV-3220.
