Cal Centro in the past was the establishment where merchants visiting the village stayed and also the meeting place for the locals. At the same time, it was also a shop where one could buy pretty much anything, as well as meat products. Continuing this tradition, this roadside establishment remains a meeting place as well as housing this century-old butcher's business. Eric Sabaté, master pork butcher, represents the fourth generation in this business, keeping up the tradition of this kind of establishment, selling nearly everything, in the village. He continues to make artisan cured meats just as his great-grandparents, grandparents and parents did. Adapting to changing times and adding local produce like wine, grapes and nuts to his cured meats. Cal Centro's products remain a landmark throughout the Priorat because of their quality, taste and originality.
