Information

Activities

We will start with a brief introduction to different concepts relating to olive oil (how it is made and what it is used for). We will also run over the other common oils in our area, including almond, hazelnut and rice. We will prepare a maceration with thyme in alcohol (tincture) and in oil (oleate) which we will use to enter the world of herbal remedies and how herbs are used both to flavour food and as therapeutic purposes. With the tincture we will make a water-alcohol solution for disinfecting hands, and with the oleate a soap to use for hands or in the shower. You can take both of these away with you.
