The Priorat county viewpoint network sets out to highlight the distinctiveness and diversity of the local landscape, made up of woods and farmland. These viewpoints offer the chance to calmly contemplate a natural landscape shaped by human hands – from some outstanding places.
Priorat, Mediterranean mosaic patchwork
The Priorat landscape is a distinctive Mediterranean patchwork, a mosaic in which woods, vineyards, olive groves and almond trees rub shoulders in unique visual harmony. This balance is in accordance with the scale of the area's small villages and agricultural plots, giving it an identity all of its own. The field terraces and hillsides, shaped through the wisdom of generations of farmers, show both adaptation to the terrain and profound respect for nature.
This outstanding agricultural structure favours a rich biodiversity, in which native plants and wildlife coexist with traditional crops, making up a unique natural and cultural heritage. The Priorat landscape is managed through sustainable practices, balancing farming with conservation of the environment. This model, the result of centuries of interaction between humans and the landscape, is essential to preserve its distinctiveness and make sure it will still be there for future generations.
Mirador de Llaberia (l'era del Foro - Capçanes)
La Serra de Llaberia és un Espai Natural Protegit amb una gran diversitat i riquesa de paisatge, resultat de segles d’activitat humana sobre un territori molt variat.
Mirador de Montsant (coll dels Solans - la Figuera)
El paisatge que observem, encapçalat pel Parc Natural de Montsant al nord-est amb la imponent Serra Major, té un caràcter de muntanya baixa mediterrània marcat per un relleu referent visual i identitari del Priorat, on destaquen els conreus de vinya, olivers i fruiters, juntament amb prats, pastures i boscos.
Mirador de la DO Montsant (la Miloquera - Marçà)
Amb el poble de Marçà als peus, des d’aquest mirador tenim la Serra de Montsant a l’horitzó, de la qual la DO pren el seu nom. Es tracta d’un paisatge mediterrani, on les vinyes de garnatxa, carinyena i macabeu s’intercalen entre un mosaic de cultius d’oliveres, ametllers, cereals, entre d’altres per configurar un mosaic sinuós i amable.
Mirador de la DOQ Priorat (lo Balconet - Torroja del Priorat)
Aquest mirador és un indret central del territori de la Denominació d’Origen Qualificada Priorat, ideal per observar el paisatge i els valors que preserva el nostre territori.
Discover the night sky in the Serra de Montsant Natural Park
The Serra de Montsant invites you to look beyond the horizon with its new network of astronomical viewpoints, a proposal designed to enjoy the spectacle of the firmament in a privileged natural environment. Distributed among several municipalities of the park, these viewpoints offer a unique experience, both day and night, taking advantage of the excellent quality of the night sky in the area.
Since 2018, the park has had an Acoustic and Light Protection Plan that aims to preserve silence and natural darkness, essential elements for astronomical observation and closely linked to the spiritual and landscape dimension of Montsant.
Astronomical viewpoints
Each viewpoint has been carefully designed, incorporating wood and stone elements to promote visitor comfort. You can find star indicators, interpretive panels with astronomical information and, in many cases, interactive devices such as rotating planispheres that help identify constellations.
In municipalities such as Ulldemolins and Poboleda, visitors can use a star clock, a unique tool that allows you to know the time based on the position of the Big Dipper with respect to the North Star. And if you are looking for an even more special experience, near the Morera de Montsant viewpoint, in the Pla del Torró, a lunar clock has been installed, a ceramic work of art by Pere Bargalló Bozzo that works with the light of the full moon.
