Paths of Wine in Porrera

The route begins next to the Cooperative building (WP1). As far as the Coll Major it is waymarked as a GR (in red and white paint). Take the Horta path, paved and enclosed between stone walls, leading to the river Cortiella. Cross the river (WP2) and go uphill along the farm track. Very soon you come to the old "camí ral" or road from Porrera to Falset which sets off straight ahead (WP3).

Flora itinerary: Shady Oakwood - Albarca

A route over the flat areas and slopes of the shady side of the shoulder on which the village is perched.

The soil is deep here thanks to erosion and sedimentation of the red sandstone of Albarca and lutitic materials with gypsum. The heads of the stream beds that start here reveal outcrops of limestone.

Height difference: 100 m; starts at 780, goes down to 720 and climbs to 820 m.

Flora itinerary: Brushwood and vineyards - Holm oak woods - Escaladei

A route on the sunny hillsides on the lower slopes of the Montsant massif. Beneath the towering cliffs that loom over the stream bed coming down from the Pregona spring, material resulting from erosion has built up. The stream beds that now only carry water from time to time have cut into the different geological strata and at the same time carried away much of the sediment.
